FISH DEATH INCIDENT IN PUROLON RIVER, TENOM

In recent days, residents living along the Purolon River in Tenom have reported sightings of fish floating weakly, with many already dead. This situation has persisted for approximately four days, raising serious concerns within the local community.

The river serves as the primary source of gravity-fed water supply for nearby villages. Residents fear that the water may be contaminated or contain harmful bacteria.

As Chairman of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), I will be reporting this matter to the Tenom District Fisheries Department and the Tenom Health Department (FAERSH) for immediate investigation and laboratory testing of the river water.

We urge the authorities to take swift action to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our community.
